I hope that you have all been having a great week. Here in South Australia, it is a long weekend – lucky for those not having to work the Monday! 🙂

On Saturday I attended a Spirit Doll Workshop, facilitated by an Adelaide based art therapist, Jackie, at Artwell Art Therapy. The purpose of the workshop was to create a doll, which acts like a personal guide for yourself. It is designed to symbolise and contain the personal characteristics you are needing in your life right now.

I found the process very interesting. To me, it was like creating a visual representation of a written affirmation. Affirmations can be useful and powerful things as they encourage you to focus on what you DO want. I would not necessarily consider affirmations to be about “positive thinking” but rather about productive, helpful thinking. If you can get yourself into a productive mindset, it is easier for you to take and continue to take productive actions, and make productive choices, which leads to results. An article which provides useful information about affirmations and creating them can be found here.

Through the process of creating the doll, it is interesting to observe how you may start out with a particular idea in mind, yet it can turn out completely different. A bit like life I guess! 🙂

I had expected that my doll would personify a coach, someone to encourage me to continue on the creative path. Instead, it turned out to be me! I have interpreted this as being a reflection of my higher self.

What do you think?

Have you ever attended a Spirit Doll Workshop, or tried something similar? I would love to hear about it! 🙂
